Camp Quality 1,000 Ks 4 Kids is designed to cater for every rider, from beginners to experts and everyone in between.

Each ride is full of teamwork, mateship, fun and laughter. You’ll make lifelong friends and incredible memories as you pass through towns, meet amazing people and take in incredible Australian views. Together we’ll cross the finish line having conquered an immense physical and mental challenge. Together we’ll raise funds and awareness for courageous kids growing up with cancer. Together we’ll make a difference.

How it works

1,000 Ks 4 Kids is a ride like no other! We work hard to make each ride as unique and memorable as possible.

“This Ride for me was one of those “special” times in your life. It had it all – I laughed, I cried and I hurt but I felt as though I had achieved something amazing both in raising awareness and money for the kids and also achieving some personal goals. What I didn’t expect was to meet 60 of the most generous and like-minded people I have ever met. Get involved, you won’t regret it”. – Mick Lewis (Rider)

Here are just a few ways we do it:

There’s no “I” in “Team”

Every Ride is made up of a number of teams, each lead by a Captain. The Captains are central to their team, arranging training rides and other activities to get everyone ready for the event. The team as a whole encourages one another, building confidence and esteem so the ride is filled with mateship and fun, even at the most challenging of times.

Fun Therapy

Camp Quality’s culture is embedded into every part of 1,000 Ks 4 Kids. This means that FUN is a major element of each ride. Throughout the day Fun Therapists and the Support Crew ensure riders constantly have fun and exciting attractions to break up the challenging ride. At night, there’s even more “Fun Therapy”, with games and activities to get you energised for the next day!

School Visits

During your ride you’ll visit local schools and introduce kids to Camp Quality’s Primary School Education Program. The show teaches children that cancer isn’t contagious, and encourages them to help their peers who need support. It also reduces the likelihood of bullying, exclusion, confusion and anxiety. It’s always a highlight for riders!

The (Fun) Fine Master

“The Fine Master” will be present on your ride, handing out fines for serious offences like being out of uniform, snoring or crashing into another rider’s bike! They hand out fines of two types – a Misdemeanour (which will cost you a gold coin donation) and a Felony (which might cost you a little more!). All proceeds go towards the 1,000 Ks 4 Kids fundraising goal.

Our Support Crew

An awesome group of volunteers who offer their time and skills to join the rides. They ensure everyone has a safe, organised and fun experience. They consist of massage therapists, doctors and nurses, mechanics, logistics and supply crew members, PR and media team members, drivers and radio operators. They are the backbone of the ride and are absolutely AMAZING!

The Ride Points Challenge

Throughout your ride, your team will be awarded points for various actions – for on-road challenges, being helpful, and more. Points are lost for actions like being late to morning “Fun Therapy” activities, having too many flat tyres, etc. Each night the team with the most points wins the right to wear the “No. 1 Winning Team” signs on the front of their bikes for the day.

Special Jerseys

During your ride, riders and support crew nominate their fellow teammates in one of three ‘Special Jersey’ categories. Winners get to wear the jersey that evening and for the next day’s ride.

Joker Jersey: Given to someone who has done something funny throughout the day.

King of the Mountain Jersey: Given to a rider who has done particularly well that day, or has conquered their own mountain!

The Keith Lawrence Most Supportive Jersey: Keith Lawrence was a massive supporter of Camp Quality for many years and came on the first two 1,000 Ks 4 Kids rides before suddenly passing away. Created in his memory, this jersey is for riders who show incredible support for others on the event.
